Princesses on the brink of success

Ghana finally appear on the brink of ending Nigeria's stronghold in women's football by clinching the sole ticket to the All Africa Games when both sides meet on Sunday.

The Black Princesses seek to earn their place at the Games later in September in Mozambique after their bronze winning debut back in 2007 when Algeria hosted it.

When Kuuku Dadzie's side line up at the El-Wak Stadium for the return game after drawing 1-1 in the first leg in Abuja a fortnight ago, their determination would be fuelled by their desire to participate at the eight-team tournament.

Fortunately for the Princesses, they enter the game with an away goal advantage which could prove crucial come regulation time.

"We are not thinking about any other thing apart from the game," Ghana's coach, Dadzie said.

"We come up against a good and experienced side. For us, it's like starting on a clean sheet. The only advantage is that we would have the home fans behind us.

"But we are facing a tough opponent and we must work hard to qualify. The girls are aware of the task and appreciate the importance of the game and the stage we have reached."

Ghana rallied from a goal down to draw 1-1 with the Super Falcons in the first leg tie as the winner over the two-leg tie on aggregate secures a place at the Games.
