All is set 2011 Cowbell National Cycling Tour of Ghana

Accra, March 30, GNA - All is set for the much anticipated 2011 Cowbell Cycling Tour of Ghana which is billed to take off from the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra, on April 1.

The tour which is to be sponsored by Cowbell Promasidor Ghana Limited and supported by Pens and Plastics, is the 4th edition and will be parading 80 professional cyclists from various clubs across the country.

The nine day tour which would start from the Ohene Djan Stadium will see the cyclists racing through Mankessim to Cape Coast for the 1st Stage, whilst the second stage commences from Cape-Coast to Takoradi and back to Cape Coast.

From Cape Coast, the cyclists will move to Assin Fosu to Kumasi to begin the fourth stage which starts from Kumasi to Sunyani then to Tamale covering a distance of 306km and they are expected to go through Buipe to Kintampo from Tamale and back to Kumasi.

The eight stage event will then roll off from the Koforidua Jackson Park through Mamfe Adukrom and finally end in Accra for the final stage.

Among the participating Clubs are All Stars, Young Stars, River Park, Volta Stars, Pacesetters, H.M Cycling Club, Die Hard, Victory Stars, City Migro and Fire bunch - the oldest Cycling Club in the country.

The event is aimed primarily at promoting cycling in the country and to uplift the image of the cyclists to meet international standards.

The Tour is also to spell out the legitimate rankings of the various national cyclists in the country as well as prepare the various clubs for upcoming events.

The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) is also committed to acknowledging the tireless efforts of Cowbell, Promasidor and Pens and Plastics for their vision in the development of cycling in the country.
