Ghana scored twice within two minutes to win 2-0 at home against Senegal in the final round of qualifying for the 2011 African Under-17 Championship.

Captain Hamza Zakari and Joseph Gordon scored the goals late-on in the game for Ghana to end the frustrations of their fans.

Black Starlets coach Frimpong Manso had anticipated a tough game but still insisted that his group of players had a lot to prove.

Though, they proved it by sealing the important win, they kept fans on the edge at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra as their goals came eleven minutes before regulation time.

The day was capped with near misses from both sides with the Black Starlets blowing away good opportunities.

With time ticking down, Zakari sent the stadium into spontaneous celebration when he broke the deadlock in the 76th minute.

Senegal had barely overcome the shock when Gordon doubled up for Ghana just after they had restarted play.

The win puts Ghana in the driving seat ahead of the reverse fixture away in a fortnight's time.

However, Senegal proved to be tough opponents on the day. The second leg would determine which side progresses to the finals of the 2011 Championship to be hosted by Rwanda.

Ghana failed to qualify for the 2009 competition hosted by Algeria.
