Ghana Armed Forces confirms arrival of Presidential jet

Accra, Oct. 1, GNA - The New Executive Falcon 900EX Easy aircraft, acquired by government for Ghana Air Force arrived in Accra early Thursday evening.

    
The airliner, which would serve as a Presidential Jet was flown in from the United States by Wing Commander Bekoe of the Ghana Air Force and a guest pilot from the Falcon Company.

    
The much-awaited soundless aircraft touched down at the Kotoka International Airport around 1700 hours and taxied to the Accra Air Force Base where a small enthusiastic crowd witnessed its arrival.

    
According to a statement issued by Colonel M'bawine Atintande, Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) John Smith who was at the head of a six-man delegation that had flown to the US for the final arrangements to bring the aircraft to Ghana was on board.

    
The statement said the Chief Director of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Ofosu-Appeah, Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Peter Blay, Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Michael Samson-Oje  and the French Ambassador were among the dignitaries that witnessed the arrival of the aircraft.

    
The statement quoted Lt Gen Smith as saying that  the aircraft was the best the Air Force could have since  it is suitable for the purpose for which it was acquired.

    
It said the date for the commissioning of the aircraft would be announced later.
