Manchester City striker Robinho is on the verge of signing for AC Milan. The Brazilian international is undergoing a medical with the San Siro club, although no deal has yet been confirmed between the two clubs.
“Robinho is in Galliate for a medical and he will then come to Milanello (AC Milan training ground),” an AC Milan spokesperson told BBC Sport.
The 26-year-old joined Manchester City for a British record fee of £32.5m from Real Madrid in the summer of 2008.
He arrived in dramatic fashion on the final day of the transfer window on the first day of owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan's reign at the club.
However, the playmaker has struggled to make an impact at the Eastlands outfit and was loaned to Brazilian side Santos in January 2010.
Robinho rejected a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer as he held out for a move to Italy or Spain and it now appears likely he will be heading to the former.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is holding talks with Manchester City over a deal for the forward and, if he is successful, Robinho will join fellow countrymen Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato at the Serie A club.
A spokesman for the Rossoneri club confirmed: “Mr Galliani is working in this direction but we will have to wait and see.”
