Adriano Galliani has told Ronaldinho to wait for a new deal as it depends on AC Milan's qualification for next season's Champions League.

Reports on Friday claimed Ronaldinho would be ousted with no new deal if his form did not improve, but Galliani was more generous.

"There is still time for Ronaldinho's extension as we are 18 months away from his contract expiring," he told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"First it is necessary to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League, and then we will speak about the rest.

"For now he needs to continue working. He has shown his will to stay with us and he will probably remain."

His current deal expires in 2011, and he will reportedly be offered a two-year extension worth €4.5million per annum. This means he will have to reduce his wages by €2m as he currently earns around €6.5m a season.
