Ghana football authorities say they are preparing to face Ivory Coast in their first game at this year's African Cup of Nations in Angola.

The Black Stars were scheduled to play Togo on Monday in their opening Group B game but after a deadly attack, the Hawks pulled out of the tournament.

Togo had hinted that they could return for the competition but the Confederation of African Football (Caf) says they will not be re-admitted.

This means the Black Stars group has been reduced to three countries with Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso as the other Group B members.

Ghana FA Kwasi Nyantakyi admits the Ivorians will have the advantage because they would have warmed into the tournament.

“Ghana is not kicking a ball until Friday due to the absence of our scheduled opponents, Togo,” GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

“We are now focusing on our match against Ivory Coast and that would be a tough game.

"They would have the advantage of having warmed themselves into the competition because they play Burkina Faso today.

“But we would have to continue preparing and be ready for it.”
