The Coalition of Supporters Unions of Africa,(COSUA)which aims at building African unity through the 2010 World Cup, has sent a message of condolence to the National Football Team as well as the Government and people of the Republic of Togo following the tragic attack on the team in Angola last Friday.

This was contained in a statement issued from COSUA's 2010 Operations Headquarters in Johannesburg and addressed to the Togolese Ambassador to South Africa under the hand of Mr. Daniel Mundea of Zambia who is the COSUA Director of Operations for 2010 in charge of Southern Africa.

The statement described the incident as 'tragic' and 'very unfortunate' coming as it were, at a time when the entire Southern Africa and indeed the entire continent was gearing up to host the whole world in an atmosphere of peace, unity and togetherness to celebrate football.

It expressed the hope that the Togolese team and its people would take solace in the fact that billions of peace-loving people around the globe share in their tragic loss and anguish inflicted by only a few misguided people.

In a related development, the President of COSUA, Advocate Sarfo Abebrese indicated in a telephone interview with 'Chronicle Sports' that a high-powered delegation to be led by the celebrated South African music icon, Ms. Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who is a Director and Goodwill Ambassador of COSUA will visit Lome 'anytime soon' to commiserate with the people over the tragic loss.

He said he himself would be part of the delegation, together with the COSUA Vice President in charge of Southern Africa, Mr. McBride Kayele Kambombo of Namibia and the COSUA Director of Operations in charge of Western Africa, Dr. Marc Baffoun of Cote d' Ivoire.
