Ghana players at the African Cup of Nations in Angola are in serious danger after rebels promised to continue with their deadly gunfire attacks on teams at the tournament.

The armed wing of the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC) claimed responsibility on Friday for an attack on the Togo team.

The deadly machine-gun attack on the Togolese football team bus killed one person and seriously injured seven others in Cabinda where they Black Stars are based.

The rebel have vowed to continue their deadly gunfire attacks which will put the Black Stars in direct risk where they are camped in Group B.

"On Friday at 3:00 p.m., January 8, 2010, the FLEC/PM resistance carried out an attack in the Massabi sector against Angolan armed forces escorting Togo's national selection," it said in a communique, Lusa, the Portuguese news agency reported.

The attack left "one dead and three seriously wounded," added the communique, signed by the group's secretary general Rodrigues Mingas.

It added: "This operation is only the start of a series of targeted actions that will continue in all the territory of Cabinda."

Ghana will open their tournament campaign against Togo on Monday and Caf says the tournament will go ahead as planned.
