18 to rumble! …In Saturday Night of Classic Boxing

The vice chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Mr. Ahene Truly says the stage is set for the forthcoming boxing showdown at the Ohene Djan Stadium. Gate opens at 5pm.

The nine bouts, code named “Night of Classic Boxing”, is arranged, approved and sanctioned by the GBA and will attract some of Ghana and Nigeria's finest boxers.

Long reach Albert Mensah, African Boxing Union (ABU) champion will make his title defense when he engages Isaac Quartey in their WBA Pan African Light Welterweight championship in the evening's main bout.

Emmanuel A. Addo and his Nigerian counterpart Peter Chubi will set the tone for the night in their sixth round Super Featherweight contest, while Osumanu Akaba pits his strength against another Nigerian, Ericson Origenes, in their ten round Super Featherweight contest.

The third bout will see WBA Pan African Super Featherweight (champion) Maxwell Awuku facing Joseph Ayaa Laryea; with Nigeria's Sony King Hammer challenging Flash Ibole Issaka in the ABU Super Middleweight championship.

In the Lightweight championship, Ghana's Samuel Amoako, the champion, will take on his Nigerian challenger Prince Nurudeen, while George Ashie (champion) faces Toufic Bisuga in the ABU Super Featherweight African championship.

Osumanu Adama will challenge Mohammed Akrong in the ABU Middle weight championship, while Kofi Manu (challenger) pit his strength against Patrick Allotey in the National Welterweight bout.

The rates for the bout promoted by the GHALCA Group Incorporated are; ring side ¢10,00; while ¢3.00 will be charged at the Popular Stands.
