Two NGOs construct sports complex for schools at Akoase

Akoase, (E/R), Dec. 16, GNA - Two Netherlands based Non- Governmental

Organizations (NGOs)- the Big Step Foundation (STEP) and Young Sports have constructed

a GHC 25,000.00 sports complex for Basic and a Second Cycle Schools at Akoase in the

Birim North District.
The field comprise two volleyball, a basketball, netball and tennis ball courts for the 12

primary and Junior High Schools (JHS) and a Senior High School in the town.

Mr Samuel Anie-Amoah, Project Manager of the Big Step Foundation who inaugurated

the facilities, said the gesture was aimed at developing sporting talents of the children at the

grassroots.
He said they have also presented two sets of jerseys each, a number of footballs, netballs,

handballs, table tennis balls and a quantity of sports equipment to the various schools.

Mr Anie-Amoah said the STEP also presented 145 computers and their accessories to

ICT centres and schools at Ayirebi, Kotokuom, Adausena, New Abirem and Akoase to

enhance teaching and learning of information, communication and technology studies in the

schools.
He advised the school children to make use of the facilities to develop their sporting

talents to enable them to participate in national and international competitions.

The District Sports Development Officer, Mr Stephen Anim commended the two NGOs

for their assistance.
