Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira Basic Schools holds Sports Festival

Jukwa, (C/R) Dec. 8 GNA - The 20th Annual Inter Zonal Basic Schools Sports Festival of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District opened at the Jukwa Roman Catholic School Park on Monday.
The five-day Festival will have more than 500 athletes participating soccer, athletics, volleyball, table tennis and netball competitions.
Mrs Elizabeth Amoah Tettey, Deputy Minister of Education who opened the Festival advised the athletes to show good sportsmanship and donated three trophies valued at GH¢1,000.00 to the Basic School Sports Association to be competed for annually.
Mr John Odoom, District Director of Education received the trophies on behalf of the Association and thanked the Minister for her kind gesture.
In the opening soccer matches, Nuamakrom Zone beat Praso Zone 1-0 while Hemang Zone also beat Mampong Zone 2-1.
In the boys' volleyball competition, Nyinase Zone beat Mampong Zone 2-1 while Jukwa Zone also beat Wamaso Zone 2-1.
Present at the ceremony was Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, the District Chief Executive.
