Three Ghanaian Televison stations have stepped up their bid to secure the broadcast rights for next year's Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Angola.

The consortium to the three Television stations claimed they were unable to secure the deal because of the 1.5 million Euros quoted by right owners Afnex LC2.

Optimum Media Prime now says they have almost reached an agreement with the African Union Broadcasting (AUB) for the broadcasting rights.

The TV stations who are now sweatig over the rights have collabroated with AUB in the past to telecast the Fifa Confederations Cup, World Youth Championship in Egypt and have also secured the rights to show the World Cup finals.

"We have spoken with AUB and I am very hopeful that we will be able to tie the deal in the shortest possible time," OMP managing director Ken Ashigbey said.

"The 1.5 million Euros is on a high side for the Ghanaian economy and many economies in Africa especially will struggle to find the money

"We have told them there is unity in strength and because this is an African event, it is imperative Africans are given the right to watch the match and enjoy it."
