Qatar-based Ghana starlet John Benson believes his international future despite making a rare appearance at the Fifa World Youth Championship in Egypt.
The 18-year-old was surprisingly drafted into the 21-man squad that lifted the trophy from the renowned Aspire Soccer Academy.
Relatively unknown to Ghanaians, the versatile player played a bit-part role in the team's heroic achievement.
"In Egypt I didn't get a lot of time to show to Ghanaians what I can do but I hope next time when I'm called, I will win the heart of the fans. With my age I can still play at the next competition and I'm working hard to be invited," Benson told Ghanasocernet.com
"I know it's difficult but I will fight hard to make it in the national team and prove myself."
Benson has signed a one-year-deal with struggling Qatari side Al Ahli where he wants to garner the experience for the major European leagues.
"I have a dream and playing in Qatar has helped and that is why I have signed for Ahli to build myself for the future. I want to play for a big team one day," he added.
Benson was spotted in 2006 in Obuasi playing a colt club Tutuka and became the first African to enrolled into the renowned sports "mecca" in Qatar.
"Yes first it was not easy being an african among arabic people so I was feeling lonely but as time goes on it became normal for me and I got many friends who were treating like their brother which it became absolutely fantastic for me."
