Adjei keen on Black Stars return

Sammy Adjei has boastfully claimed he still remains Ghana's finest goalkeeper in Ghana and insists he will earn a call-up to next year's World Cup in South Africa.

 
Adjei reportedly quit the Black Stars in March 2008 due to lack of playing time but he has since denied that.

 
The 27-year-old claims he wrote a letter to the technical team asking to be excused from two national team games and never tendered his resignation.

 
Head coach Milovan Rajevac is struggling to find back-ups for first choice goalie Richard Kingson and the unattached shot-stopper claims he is better placed to be between the sticks.

 
''Everybody knows Sammy Adjei is the best in the country and will be back soon to man the post for the Black Stars,'' Adjei said.

 
''I have been there before and looking at the current situation, I believe I am in a better position and better than any goalkeeper in Ghana.

 
"I am still training seriously and any one who has seen me train will attest to the fact that am very much in form despite the fact am not playing actively now," he added.

 
"I am convinced that I will be called into the national team very soon hopefully before the world cup in South Africa."
