Workshop on leveraging Black Stars' at the 2010 World Cup
On October 29, this year, RICS Consult Limited, Ghana's foremost sports marketing, PR and sports events management consultancy will organize a day's workshop on Leveraging Black Stars' Appearance At the 2010 World Cup for New Business Opportunities & Enhancing Brand Ghana, at the National Hockey Stadium.
And to grace the opening ceremony as the guest of hounour is vice President John Dramani Mahama.
The rationale for the hosting and organization of the one-day workshop, according to a release signed by Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, executive chairman of RICS, is to explore to the maximum the numerous opportunities for business that could be promoted piggybacking on the Black Stars' appearance at the 2010 World Cup, as part of the overall Ghana's Brand Project, Tourism, Sports Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Strategy for 2010.
Every country's appearance at a FIFA World Cup Football Championship brings in its wake immense socio-economic opportunities which when considered will not only add value to the brand of the nation, but also provide the platform for implementation of a number of initiatives that should inure to the economic prosperity of the nation.
It must be noted, therefore, that the challenges that contributed to denying the nation the fullness of the real benefits of our appearance at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, made it imperative that, with yet another appearance ahead of us, we begin to plan and implement set plans differently.
Indeed, with the Black Stars' appearance secured at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, we should as a nation begin to initiate immediate plans aimed at not only ensuring a new paradigm that will maximize the benefits there from, but also that we collectively engineer a roadmap that will ensure our continuous appearances at subsequent tournaments.
Recognizably, the Black Stars appearance provides the nation with more than a unique platform for further enhancing brand Ghana, tourism, sports tourism, trade and investment promotion at an arguably less expense, especially for non-traditional exports, made-in-Ghana goods, and cultural industries. The following institutions will be invited to send two (2) representatives each for the Workshop:-
