Ghana-born striker America international Freddy Adu has completed a loan move to Portuguese side Belenenses.
The 20-year-old US international has been linked with a loan deal for the past few weeks as Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has indicated he will not be used in the first team this season.
After initially being closely linked with Danish club BK Odense, Adu will join Lisbon-based Belenenses on a season-long loan.
"The coach really wants him; he made it happen," a source said. "He's going to play him."
Adu confirmed the move on his Twitter page, revealing: "Okay for those who don't know I just completed a one-year loan move to Belenenses. And I'm excited to join the team tomorrow for training."
Adu had the opportunity of playing for the Black Stars before the 2006 World Cup in Germany but he turned it down.
