Chelsea Win Shield •After Penalty Shoot-out With Man United
CHELSEA were spot on at Wembley as they sealed Community Shield glory. Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra both fluffed their lines as Manchester United crumbled in a dramatic 4-1 shoot-out defeat.
United winger Nani gave Alex Ferguson's men a the half-time lead with a stunning 25-yard drive.
But defender Ricardo Carvalho headed Chelsea level just seven minutes after the restart.
Frank Lampard controversially fired the Blues ahead on 71 minutes as Evra lay injured 70 yards away when he scored.
Carlo Ancelotti's side looked to have sealed the victory until Wayne Rooney's last-gasp equaliser took the match to a shoot-out.
Lampard smashed the first straight down he middle before Petr Cech saved from Giggs, who had tried the same tactic.
Michael Ballack easily found the bottom-left corner and Carrick just managed to slot in past diving Cech's right.
There was no trouble for Didier Drogba as he curled into the left hand side.
But Evra's comically slow effort was easy for Cech to save. That left Salomon Kalou to finish off United with the simplest of penalties into the top right corner.
