Essien hungry for more trophies
Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is hoping to win more trophies this season after clinching his first silverware of this term.
The Chelsea enforcer was part of the team that beat Manchester United on Sunday to win the Community Shield which ushers in the new season in England.
Chelsea had to come back from a goal down to take the lead with goals coming from Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard after Nani's opener for the champions.
The FA Cup holders were set for success in 90 minutes but an injury-time goal from Wayne Rooney leveled the game 2-2 to set up a penalty shoot-out.
And Essien's Chelsea were the jubilant team at Wembley defeating United 4-1 on penalties to lift the Community Shield.
The Ghanaian is confident his club will go on to win many more titles in the upcoming season.
“This is a good beginning for us and we hope we can go on to win more of the titles that we will be fighting for,” Essien told reporters.
The new league season will start in England next week.
