Kumasi, Aug 7, GNA - Mr. Francis Ampadu, Assemblyman of Ahenbronum Electoral Area at Old Tafo in Kumasi, has expressed concern about the recent floods in the Kumasi Metropolis and attributed the problem to the construction of houses in water ways.

He said the disaster resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property and appealed to estate developers to desist from that practice and ensure that houses were built in good environment at all times.

Mr Ampadu, who spoke to the GNA in an interview, put the blame on chiefs, the Survey Department and the Lands Department for being responsible for selling and processing documents for developers.

He commended the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) for its efforts to demolish all houses along waterways in the metropolis and expressed the hope that the exercise would be pursued earnestly.

Mr. Ampadu appealed to the KMA to ensure that the assembly's resources were allocated equally among the various sub-metropolitan assemblies in the metropolis to enable them initiate more developmental projects.
