Measures To Spearhead Blackstars Qualification Outlined

The Acting Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Rashid Abdul Pelpuo has assured that government will swiftly finalise the prompt  release of funds to ensure that, the budget of the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars are completed, for the second round qualification matches in September towards 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
He noted that the Sports Ministry will continue to provide the necessary support and assistance to the Technical Team to build a strong and formidable team for the last phase of the qualifying series.

Mr Pelpuo revealed this, when he answered questions in Parliament, posed by the Member of Parliament for Atwina Mponua, Hon Isaac Asiamah, on the Ministry's preparation for the Black Stars towards the remaining qualifying matches to the 2010 World Cup.

The Minister mentioned that his Ministry is seriously working with institutions under the it to enable the Stars qualify, saying the Coach will be given the needed funds to scout for players both locally and abroad to strengthen the team.
He added that the players will be motivated sufficiently to instill commitment, confidence and discipline to discharge their responsibilities.  

On the level of preparation for the pending African Hockey Tournament slated for this month, Mr Pelpuo announced that the water-based hockey pitched which is being constructed for the tournament at the cost of $9.3million will be commissioned on the 6th of this month.
He said his Ministry will ensure that the needed funds are provided for the hockey team to enable them win the tournament.

Mr Pelpuo said to boost the performance of the team, there are on-going training programmes being organised for the team both locally and abroad.
