Accra, June 29, GNA – The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the
Hockey Africa Cup for Nations, Ghana 2009, on Monday organized a training
seminar for sports journalists in the country.
The one-day event, attended by media personnel from both the electronic and
print media was aimed at equipping journalists with the appropriate terminologies
for the competition that spans July 10-18.
It also served as a platform for participants to update their knowledge on the
rules and regulations for both the game of hockey and the tournament.
Kwame Essah, a member of the LOC said the seminar was appropriate and in
the right step at it would educate the media on terminologies associated with the
sport of hockey.
He said he has the conviction that the seminar will also enhance the reportage
of media personnel during the eight-day tourney.
Nii Koi Oko Djani, Chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association commended
the LOC for organising the seminar, which he noted will keep the media abreast
with latest development of the sport.
The participants were taken through the rules of the game and tournament
regulations amongst other related topics.
The resource persons were Richard Akpokavie, Vice Chairman of the Ghana
Hockey Association and Richmond Attipoe, Ghana's only International Hockey
Federation (IHF) Umpire.
