The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has brainstormed ahead of the Africa Hockey Cup For Nations (AfHF) slated for Ghana, from July 10-18.

At the five-hour brainstorming session at the Coconut Grove Regency in Accra yesterday, the chairmen of the seven sub-committees, presented their submissions in a program chaired by Mr. Abuga Pele, Chairman of the LOC.

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Nortey Duah, revealed that the opportunity had presented itself for Ghana to showcase its organisational abilities, as she gears up to host the rest of Africa.

“Ghana hosting the forthcoming hockey competition is a testimony of how far we have come in sports,” said the Deputy Sports Minister.

He pointed out that government's readiness to support the competition, attests to its quest to offer support to all sporting disciplines.

The Deputy Sports Minister urged all stakeholders to bring their expertise on board to realise a successful hosting of the hockey fiesta.

Mr. Abuga commended the seven sub-committees for painstakingly putting together documents that would serve as a blue print for a successful hosting of the tournament.

He, however, cautioned that the sub-committees put to work whatever they have put in print as soon as practicable, taking into account the limited time confronting the LOC.

The Chief Executive Officer of the LOC, Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, expressed confidence in the various sub-committees to deliver, and promised to raise the bar, regarding the organisation of the tourney, as the LOC strives to leave a legacy, not only in Ghana, but beyond it.
