Meteo Warns Of More Rains
A Senior Meteorologist, Mr Amos Narh, has stated that the country will experience more rains this year, and therefore urged the public, especially those in flood-prone areas, to plan towards averting any calamity.
Speaking to the Times in a telephone interview on the weather pattern vis-à-vis the rains, he said the raining season has just begun and more rains are expected.
He said the rains would be characterized by strong winds and thunderstorms, among others.
Apart from that, he said “we are in April and in May, more of such rains would be experienced not withstanding the fact that the rains that are being experienced do not form part of those that usually come form the northern belt of the country.”
Mr Narh, therefore, enjoined individuals and households to refrain from dumping refuse in the drains.
“The public must also desilt gutters, particularly those in front of their houses,” he advised.
He urged city authorities, particularly building inspectors, to pull down houses in water ways to allow water to flow.
Mr Narh advised that individuals or pedestrians should seek refuge in times of heavy rains so to avoid stepping on live wires.
