THE LIBERTY TOURNEY HAS PRODUCED STARS The annual Liberty Classic Youth tournament begins on Thursday at the Carl Reindorff Park in Dansoman with clubs from Togo and Benin sides ready to light up this year's event.

  Previous editions of the tournament have unearthed talents like Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and Rabiu Mohammed.

The three-day event will see Hosts Liberty Professionals face Essay Classic in the opener.

Liberty Professionals (Ghana) are paired alongside Semen-Krake of Benin and Essay Classic (Ghana).

Pool B has Liberty Professionals (Togo), Zaytuna United (Ghana) and International Allies (Ghana).

The competition will involve a round robin format after which the Group winners will advance to the final.

Scouts from Europe and other part of the world are expected to keep a keen eye of prospective stars.

President of Liberty Professionals, Alhaji Sly Tetteh reckons the tournament will offer the right platform for the players to exhibit their talent.

"We have organized these tournament for years and am hopeful this year's competition as always  will offer the players the appropriate stage to be recognized," Tetteh told Ghanasocecrnet.com 

"The tournament has proven to be the place for these players to be seen and their talents tapped.

"I have a lot of contact in Europe and elsewhere and I believe it is important we give them the opportunity to realize their dream of playing abroad," he added

'We have done this for years and our record bears ample testimony. Talents abound everywhere and it will be exciting to see more future stars emerging from Togo and Benin."
