Darko scores in Asian Cup
Former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Obeng Darko was on target for Syrian side Al Karamah on Tuesday night in their 3-1 defeat at Jordanian champions Al Whdat in the Asian Cup at the King Abdullah Stadium.
The 22-year-old put the Syrian champions ahead after three minutes but the visitors equalized through Mahmoud Shelbaieh on 12 minutes.
Hasan Abdel-Fattah gave Al Wehdat the lead just before the half-hour.
Rafat Ali sealed the win for the Jordanians by adding a third in the 69th minute.
Looking to build on their home win against Al Wehdat, Al Karama enjoyed the perfect start, taking the lead in the third minute when Fahd Aodi tried to pass to Mohamad Al Hamwi but instead found Kwame, who fired into the net.
Al Karama should have pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining when Kwame's powerful shot was pushed aside by Shafi for a corner.
Darko joined the Syrian outfit three months ago and wants to help them to win a record fourth consecutive League crown.
They are currently placed second on the League standings.
