The Ministry of Youth and Sports has sent a message of condolence to the people of Cote d' Ivoire for the recent stadium disaster that left 22 soccer fans dead and about 140 injured.

A letter signed on behalf of the Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak by the Public Relations Manager of the ministry, Mr Kofi Aggrey delivered through the Ivorian Embassy in Accra to the Minister of Sports of the neighboring West African country, said the people and government of Ghana shares with their neighbours the pain that comes with the loss of precious souls through a football match at a time when the country had successfully hosted the CHAN Tournament.

The statement added that the people of Ghana wish the entire nation of Cote d'Ivoire, the fortitude and strength that will enable them to overcome such an irreplaceable loss.

“Dear colleague, we share your pain, and we at this moment, ask the good Lord to endow you with the rich experience that all Africa depends on for its development and progress”. The letter stated.

It added that “we ask for God's protection for the souls of the dear departed ones in His bosom and pray that he gives courage to the bereaved families as well as a quick healing to the injured and their families”.
