Zaki damn compatriot Mido

Zaki Mido

Egypt striker Mido openly accused his compatriot and Wigan teammate Amr Zaki of spreading rumours against him following their participation with Egypt squad in a 2010 world cup qualifier against Zambia in Cairo on Sunday.

Reports in local media in Egypt tapped reports on Mido's anger of being on bench in Zambia's 1-1 draw.

Mido was called on by coach Hassan Shehata to replace Brussia Dortmund hitman Mohammed Zidan in the middle of the second half.

Zaki was the man of the day as he put Egypt in the lead in the first half and played 90 minutes..

Over the past couple of days, reports kept saying that Mido vented his anger against Zaki.

“You will be damned in Wigan if I am not in the starting line-up”, local media claimed adding that Mido also approached Saudi Arabia-based striker Emad Meteb saying “You are Shehata's darling and naturally you will play”.

On Thursday morniig, Mido surprisingly hit out at Zaki, without naming the Wigan star.

“There are a player (professional player) and his manager who are behind the rumours spread in Egypt media over the past couple of days”, Mido who is on 6-month loan from Middlesbrough stated to the local media.

Zaki has a manger-cum-friend Mohammed saeed and his official agent Nader Shawky declined to comment on incident to superkoora.com.

Mido has a bad history with Egypt national team. In 2006 he engaged in a quarrel with Egypt coach Hassan Shehata who wanted to replace him with Zaki in the semi-final clash against Senegal in the African cup of nations.

Ironically, Zaki scored the winning goal for the host in the very first minute as a substitute.

Mido was immediately slapped a 6-month ban and had to watch the final against Evory Coast from stands but was allowed to come down the ground and receive winning medal with other players.
