Ghana claimed all three points against Benin in Accra with a 1-0 victory following an early goal from Prince Tagoe. Ghana played host to Benin this evening in the first match of the next phase of African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying.

The home side were overwhelming favourites going into the match, and despite missing a few key players through injury, the Ghanaians did not disappoint their fans and turned in a good performance to win by a goal to nil. Ghana took a very early lead through Prince Tagoe, scoring in the first minute, as the fans in the Accra Sports Stadium were immediately brought to their feet.

If they believed that this would be a sign of things to come, they were mistaken, as the early goal would be the only time in the game that the ball would bulge the back of the net.

The lone goal was all that was needed in the end however, as the Ghanaians bank three valuable points at home to Benin.

The largely European based squad look likely to turn heads if they qualify for next year's showpiece event in South Africa for a second successive tournament.
