					Owu earns late Stars call-up

OWU HAS BEEN INCONSISTENT Egypt-based goalkeeper George Owu has been handed a late call-up into the Black Stars for Sunday's 2010 combined Nations Cup/World Cup against Benin at the Baba Yara Stadium.

It is rumoured that the invitation of the Al Masri shot-stopper is to replace first choice goalie Richard Kingson who is suspected unfit.

But the Football Association has squashed reports gaining currency that Kingson is hiding an injury.

“Kingson is fit to play. He has been under-going a specialized form of training and this should not heighten any fears.

'This (specialized training) is nothing new. Players sometimes go through this form of preparations. But he is fit to play and in contention of a starting place on Sunday," FA Vice President, Fred Pappoe told ghanafa.org.

Owu trained for the first time with his team mates at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday evening.

He was part of the goalkeeping set that played in the qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
