Information available to Myjoyonline.com indicates an elaborate plan is underway for President John Evans Atta-Mills to tour the Central and Western regions to thank the people for their massive votes for him during election 2008.

Our Castle sources indicate the president should be making the trip before the week ends.

President Mills virtually slept in the Central Region where he concentrated his electioneering campaigns in the final onslaught for the presidency last December. He also was in the adjoining Western Region a couple of times, with his spokespersons explaining that if he was able to build up on his votes in the two regions, he would win the presidency.

In the December 7 General Elections, then Professor Mills of the National Democratic Congress obtained a total of 717,526 votes from the two regions, as against his main challenger, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party, who obtained a total of 689,935 from the two regions.

Mills' concentration on the two regions paid dividends apparently, bringing him a massive 73,637 votes advantage over Nana's votes for the same regions in the run-off. For the two regions, Prof. Mills obtained 793,119 votes while Nana polled 709,482 votes.

Mills polled 4,238,788 or 50.64 percent of total valid votes cast to win the presidency while Nana Addo polled 4,130,914 or 49.36 votes.

Our sources would not tell when the 'thank you' trip takes off but were emphatic it certainly will come off before the week ends.
