Mensah arrives to boost Stars

Mensah is keen on a Stars win Ghana deputy captain John Mensah has arrived in Accra to boost the support for the Black Stars ahead of Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Benin.

His arrival has shown the commitment and unity among the current crop of players, far departure from the past.

The France-based player was excluded from the squad for the Group D game in Kumasi because of a nagging hamstring injury.

But the strong defender paid his way to Accra to back his colleagues for victory on Sunday as the Black Stars look to hit the ground running.

"I have come here first as a Ghanaian and also as a player of the team to boost my colleagues for Sunday," Mensah told Ghanasoccernet.

"My country means a lot to me and in my own little way I will do whatever to help the team to beat Benin.

"This is a must win game for us and we not disappoint Ghanaians. The players will live up to expectation."

Mensah had a lively meeting with captain Stephen Appiah just before the start of Tuesday's training session.

He is expected to return to the squad by the Black Stars next game against Mali in Bamako.
