Asante Kotoko's aspirations of going beyond the second round stage of the CAF Champions League gained ground after they triumphed Ittihad Khemissett 3-1 in the first leg at Sekondi Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors will head into the return game much more confident as goals from Jordan Opoku, Stephen Oduro and Alex Asamoah returned the club to winning ways after a recent slump in form in the domestic league.

Kotoko who had to play their continental game at the Sekondi Sports Stadium because of a CAF suspension could not command a full house.

But that did not really affect the home side as Jordan Opoku put them in the lead midway through the half.

However the Moroccans managed to score a vital away goal through El-Sati Aicham before the half ended.

Kotoko managed to find target twice in the second session of the game through Stephen Oduro and substitute Alex Asamoah.
