Ghana Sports Will Be Better-Minister

Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, Minister of Sports, has indicated government's readiness to make Ghana sports better.

According to him, government will initiate moves to privatize activities at the various stadia in order to rope in additional revenue for the country's sports.

Alhaji Muntaka said his administration will evolve revenue generating mechanisms into stadium operations so as to lessen the burden on the ministry's budget.

Speaking to Asempa FM in Accra last Friday, the minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti region, reiterated the need for the country to replicate here in Ghana, happenings in advanced countries.

“We need to keep the stadium busy all week to generate the much needed revenue for the nation.”

President John Evans Atta Mills in his maiden State of the Nation Address on Thursday reiterated his government's desire to concentrate on sporting disciplines such as boxing and athletics. Alhaji Muntaka said President Mills' vision is to enable Ghana to become a powerhouse in sports.

“I will reinvigorate inter colleges' sports that will help the country unearth more talents.”

The Minister of Sports expressed the conviction that Ghana sports would be better during his administration.
