Obed Ansah OBED ANSAH, Hearts of Oak's prolific attacking midfielder, has been left out of the 23-man team called up for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) slated for Cote d'Ivoire this month.

The leading goal scorer in the Glo Premier League was dropped together with Godfred Yeboah, Asante Kotoko's intelligent defender and Tema Youth's Edward Affum, one time leading scorer of the ongoing premiership.

The reasons behind the exclusion of the in-form player who was called in as a last minute replacement for Kofi Abanga is not known according to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS sources.

From a tall list of 40 players, Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac pruned his squad to 23 as the final stages of preparations gets underway in the Western Region for the maiden championship designed for locally-based players only.

Meanwhile, the team has begun feverish preparations at Sekondi, close to Cote d'Ivoire, the host nation for the championship.

Ghana are drawn with Zimbabwe, DR Congo and Libya in Group B for the inaugural edition and will be based in Bouake, the second largest city in Cote d'Ivoire.

Eight nations including the hosts would be competing for laurels in the two-week competition.

The tournament kicks off on the 22nd of February and lasts till 8th March 2009.
