Lions faced with continental elimination

Heart of Lions will be in the hunt for a place in the next stage of the Caf Champions League this weekend after a stuttering start.

The premiership side endured a frustrating time in their debut continental game a fortnight ago when they went down 0-2 to Etoile Filante in Ouagadougou in the preliminary qualifying round.

Certainly, that wasn't the best of starts for Lions, who were making their continental debut. Lions will have to overturn the deficit when they host Etoile at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday.

Lions have a difficult job at hand as they need to maintain a clean sheet but clinical in front of goal if they stand any chance of dumping the Burkinabe side out of the competition.

But the return of Joseph Addo, Gladson Awako and Godfred Rockson will bolster Paa Kwesi Fabian's side, currently placed third on the domestic league table.

The trio were part of the victorious Ghana squad that clinched the Under-20 title at the African Youth Championship in Rwanda.

Lions will have to win by at least three goals to nil in the return leg to progress to the next stage of the competition.
