Jessica Tei, a 17-year-old SHS student of Local Tutorial College, Kasoa, at the weekend won the Tema Country Golf Club Lady Captain's Prize Gold tournament held at Tema.

Tei, a product of Mary-Asafu Adjaye's girl-child promotion scheme, returned an impressive six under par 66 net, playing to a handicap allowance of 18. And her successful baptismal triumph, young Tei beat seasoned Ama Morgan and evergreen Mona-Myers-Lamptey, both with 68 net, over a highly respectable field.

Elated Tei in a post event comment said she was dedicating her victory to her new mentor and host, two-time lady captain and vice president of the Ghana Ladies Gold Union Florence Etwi-Barimah.

She hoped to press on to equal the standard set by Grace Afriyie, Valentina Manteaw, Vincent Torgah, all of whom blossomed under the mentorship of the scientific lady, Florence Etwi-Barimah.

In 4th-10th places behind Tei, were Esther Afrankoma Antwi 70 net, Diana Baiden 71 net, Suzie Abaloo-Kumassah 72 net, Nana Bema Tackie 73 net, Essi Cobbina, Maria Ben-George and Victoria Adjei 75 net apiece.

Francis Torgah with a fine seven under par 65 net won the men's support event.

Vincent Torgah also won the professional segment returning 66 gross over Baba Akologo 71 gross, Brave Mensah and Eric Henaku both with 72 gross score each.

In her brief speech, the outgoing lady captain thanked participants from across the country's golf courses for honouring her invitation.

Mrs. Etwi-Barimah highly commended members of the club.

The club will this weekend host its captain's (men) prize under the sponsorship of William Yeboah who has also finished a consecutive two-year term
