Alex Asamoah ASHANTIGOLD are trying to apply the brakes on Kumasi Asante Kotoko's full flight striker Alex Asamoah.

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that the miners want to prevent their former goal poacher from playing for Kotoko in their duel with Hearts in Kumasi on Sunday.

Ashgold are reported to have officially written to the Players Status Committee (PSC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) about their intentions, and awaiting a response.

Asamoah, it would be recalled, amid controversy, joined Asante Kotoko from Ashantigold FC at the beginning of the season.

Kotoko's failure to honour their promise concerning the purchase of Asamoah is said to have influenced Ashantigold FC's decision.

Kotoko still owe Ashantigold FC a sum of about GH¢100,000. The Porcupine Warriors have also failed to replace the striker with Obeng Darko which was part of the deal.

Asamoah has so far lived to his billing, netting numerous spectacular goals for the Porcupine Warriors.

Ashantigold FC reportedly want the impasse resolved before they allow Asamoah who has been in fantastic form all season to continue playing for Kotoko.
