Diana wins Achimota Lady Captain’s Prize

Diana Joher returned a net score of 70 to win this year's Achimota Golf Club Lady Captain's Prize Open Championship played at Achimota in Accra on Saturday.

She was followed in the second position by Maria Ben-George with 72 net, Diana Baiden, whose hard work fetched her 73 net, took the third position, beating Betty Sowah-Allotey on count-back with Mary Hanson taking the fifth position with a 74 net score.

In the men's encounter, youngster Daniel List came first with 68 net, Bob Evans placed second with 69 net, beating Ayikwei Armah on count-back while David Etwi-Barimah took the fourth position with 70 also beating Sam Bannerman-Wood on count-back.

The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition opened to amateur golfers in the Greater Accra Region, was sponsored by Mrs Esi Cobbina, Lady Captain of the Achimota Golf Club.

Mrs Cobbina whose term of office expired yesterday, praised members of the club for supporting her.

She called on members to also support the in-coming captain to enable her steer the affairs of the Lady Section of the club successfully.

Mrs Betty Sowah-Allotey, newly-elected captain of the club, praised the members for the confidence reposed in her and asked for their support.
