Salia, aka Asase, who exhibited great form prior to the championship, lived up to expectation when it mattered most and took away the ultimate trophy and the GH¢500 cash prize at stake.

Asase also emerged winner in the super heavyweight division.

In the heavyweight division, Cornelius Ankrah came first, pushing Musa Atta and Mustapha Hakeem to the second and third positions respectively.

Veteran Arnold Aryee who was a hot favourite in the middleweight division was adjudged the winner, while Michael Bossman came second.

Eric Abbiw came tops in the lightweight division, with Stephen Boamah of Accra Polytechnic springing up to claim the newly-created bantamweight title.

The winners of the various categories received GH¢200 each, while the first and second runners-up took home GH¢150 and GH¢100 respectively.

The Communications Director of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), George Fausta Baffoe, who doubled as the MC for the night, described the event as one of the best in recent times, especially where there was no doubt about the various winners this time around.

The Chairman of the GBFA, Abdul-Hayye Yartey, was particularly impressed with Asase's performance, stressing that the fact that the Kumasi-based bodybuilder was discovered only last year strenghtened the association's resolve to unearth new talents to develop the sport.

The championship was graced by popular local film stars like Harry Laud, Wakefield Akuoku and Pascaline Edwards, while Dan Budu headed the three-man panel of judges which included Boniface Abotsi and Joe Kramo.
