Black Stars of Ghana The Black Stars could clash with the Pharaohs of Egypt in Cairo on February 11 next year. According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), it has received an offer to play African Champions Egypt in the New Year.

Both countries want to sharpen their arsenals before the start of the final phase of the joint 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifiers in March next year.

Ghana battles the Squirrels of Benin at home whilst Egypt also engages Zambia.

GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi said they have two countries on board and are considering their offers. Egypt is interested but a deal has not been sealed yet, he added.

But the Nigeria Football Association claims they have reached an agreement with the GFA.

“We have finalized all the details for this match in Nigeria. It is a FIFA window for friendly matches,” said the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association, Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

Officials said the venue of the West African derby was yet to be decided even though the southern town of Calabar is being highly considered.

Meanwhile, the GFA has denied news reports that the Black Stars will play American side DC United next year.

A section of the media reported earlier this week that Ghana's national team has lined up a friendly with the MLS club on February 11 ahead of the start of the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

But the GFA says the Black Stars will only play tough national teams in preparation for the start of the qualifiers in March.
