Ghanaian stars survive abroad

Ghanaian players continue to impress for their various clubs over the weekend as Ghanasoccernet.com explores the efficiencies of the players abroad

        

 

 

In Germany:

TSG Hoffenheim are the league leaders in the German Bundesliga with an impressive 3-1 away win at FC Cologne.

Midfielder, Isaac Vorsah , was an unused sub in that thrilling game at the Rhein Energie Stadion.

Left-full back Hans Adu-Sarpei broke into the starting team of Bayern Leverkusen which lost away to Armenia Bielefeld.

However, Hans was subbed on the 66th minute.

In Sunday's late afternoon kickoff, Hamburger SV won narrowly over giants Weder Bremen.

 

Youngster Jerome Boateng was used in midfield by former Spur manager Martin Jol.

On Friday Karlsruhe lost at home to former Europeamn champions Borussia Dortmund.

 

Godfried Aduobe was replaced in the 60th minute in the Karlsruhe set-up.

In the German Bundesliga II, strikers Isaac Boakye and Charles Takyi battled for glory over the weekend as the two players played for their respective clubs who clashed over the weekend.

However, it was Isaac Boakye's Nurnberg that won the game 2-1. Boakye was subbed on the 87th minute whiles former Bayern Munich youngster Charles Takyi enjoyed 90 minutes of action for Greuther Furth.

In France:

Stade Rennes won a point for themselves away to UEFA Champions League campaigners Bordeaux.

Striker Asamoah Gyan who recovered from injury last week did not find a place in the Rennes team.

Midfielder Andre Dede Ayew came on in the 54th minute in Lorient's 1-0 home triumph over Toulouse.

Nice continued their impressive run in the Ligue with a 1-0 away win over relegation threatened Saint Etienne.

National under 20 striker Abeiku Quansah was excluded from the team that made the trip St. Etienne.

In England:

Fulham caused Liverpool the opportunity to hit the summit of the league table with a blank at Anfield.

John Paintsil lasted the entire duration of the game for Roy Hodgson's side.

Middlesbrough enjoyed a frustrating afternoon as they were thumped 3-1 at home by Bolton Wanderers.

Mustapha Riga made an injury return but enjoyed the action from the bench.

Elsewhere Manchester United failed to close the gap between them and leaders Chelsea as they played a goalless drawn game at Aston Villa.

Danny Welbeck made the United team sheet but unused as the Devils managed only a point against Martin O'Neil's buoyant side.

In the Coca-Cola championship, lightening paced Lloyd Sam played 90 minutes for Charlton Athletic as they were thrashed 2-5 at their own backyard by Sheffield United.

Queens Park Rangers continues to put their form in doubt loosing 3-0 to Watford. Giant hitman Patrick Agyemang's effort was not enough to help the "Cash Dons" escape defeat.

The former Preston North End front-man played 90 minutes for QPR.

Birmingham tightened the chase on leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers with a comprehensive 3-2 away win over new entrants Swansea.

Dribbling thriller Quincy Owusu-Abeyie broke into the Blues starting line up after featuring on international assignment. He was subbed on the 65th minute by Kevin Philips.

Goal merchant Mathew Amoah failed to score as NAC Breda were held to a one all drawn game by NEC Nijmegen, causing them to surrender their lead to AZ Alkmar.

Defender Eric Addo was an unused sub in PSV Eindhoven 4-0 killing Heracles Almelo.

Former national under 23 defender Emmanuel Boakye was introduced on the 46th minute for Heracles who are suffering from the absence of skipper Kwame Quansah due to injury.

Injury continues to scare teenager Jeffery Sarpong out of the Ajax Amsterdam first team as they were whipped 2-0 over the weekend by leaders AZ Alkmar.

Sulley Muntari hit a scrappy one to aid Inter's victory in the Derby d'Italia. However Sulley could have scored a brace had it not been the effort of the hapless Menninger in goal for Juve on the 45th minute mark.

Ahmed Ampimah Barusso played his first Seria A game for Siena who surprisingly defeated Chievo Verona 2-0 at the Stade Marc Antonio Bentegodi.

The burly AS Roma loanee came on in the 87th minute of the game. Elsewhere Sampdoria brushed Catania aside by 3-0.

Mark Edusei's struggle to break into the Catania first team squad is still hanging in the air as he failed to sit on the bench in that particular encounter.

There was no action for Ghanaian players in the Scottish Premier over the weekend. Laryea Kingston is yet to attain full fitness.

Prince Buaben Abankwah watched Dundee united's 1-1 draw against Hamilton C.T from the touchline.

Germinal Beerschot succumbed to a 0-2 home defeat by Lokeren. Fulham youngster King Osei Gyan was a last minute sub for Beerschot.

Cercle Brugge sealed a 2-1 win over Nana Kwasi Asare's KV Mechelen. Nana Asare was shifted to midfield in a 4-5-1 formation.

In the Greek Super League, Panionios continue to push their way to the top of the league table with a narrow win over Levadiakos.

Bernard Yao Kumordzi sat out due to injury.

In Russia, want-away winger Haminu Draman did not feature in Lokomotiv Moscow's 2-1 win over Rubin Kazan.
