AS PART of efforts to make a meaningful impact in the coming season, King Faisal on Thursday slaughtered a big cow to perform some rituals in Kumasi.

The meat of the cow, according to reports, was distributed freely to those around as the blood was sprinkled on the ground.

Still on divine intervention, the entire lineup of King Faisal was billed to storm the Central Mosque in Kumasi today for special prayers.

A source who divulged this to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS said the move was aimed at bringing luck to Alhaji Grunsah's club as the season's opening match draws near.

King Faisal opens the season with a titanic clash with champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The Egyptian national team was the last team to slaughter a cow to perform rituals in Kumasi.

The Pharaohs en-route to the sixth continental triumph caused a stir when they slaughtered a cow at their training grounds during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Ghana early this year.

The Egyptians did not only distribute the meat of the cow to those present, but they went a little further, as their players smeared their bodies with the blood of the cow.
