National Investment Bank (NIB) Ladies last Saturday retained the All Banks Ladies Football Trophy they won last year by defeating Cedi Ladies of the Bank of Ghana 4-2 in the final of the 2008 All Banks Football Gala played at Legon.
In a fast paced, robust and sometimes ill-tempered match, the two perennial top contenders kept spectators on their feet throughout the duration of the final game which ended goalless.
During the penalty shootouts, NIB netted four times through Skipper Christine, Justicia, Juliet and Mariam while their goalkeeper Docia saved two kicks from Cedi Ladies.
The tournament, which involved 19 major banks in the country, saw NIB and Stanchart battling it out in the final of the men's competition.
NIB's attempt to retain the men's title also and thereby repeat the Bank's double win of 2007 was however stopped by Stanchart who won 4-3 on penalties.
