The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), in collaboration with the National Sports Council (NSC), is organizing a two-day invitational tournament for senior players.
According to the organizers, the competition which would be held at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, starts from 24th to 25th October 2008(11.00am to 6.00pm each day), and would involve teams from the Armed Forces, Navy, Airforce, CEPS, Immigration, Fire Service, Prisons and Police.
Sources close to the GTTA indicate that each region has seven slots with the Security Services taking the same number, while individual seasoned players across the country are equally invited to participate on their own expenses.
The sources said all players and officials are expected to arrive at the venue early for the registration. Winners of the event, aside gaining selection into the national team, would also be presented with a trophy and other attractive cash prizes from the sponsors.
Credible reports from the GTTA revealed that the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and the NSC would take care of all expenses of accredited players and officials regarding accommodation, transportation and feeding.
Prizes include two giant trophies for first placed male and female players, five crates of minerals and other products from sponsors.
