The wife of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated a set of brass band instruments to the Greater Accra Regional branch of the Nationwide Supporters Group (NSG).

The gesture was in appreciation of NSG's commitment to supporting the cause of the nation, particularly in sports, and to encourage the members to continue to give their best for the nation.

In a brief speech at the event at Nima in Accra , Mrs Samira Bawumia, said the gesture was her widow's mite to the group and promised to do more for them in the future.

She commended members of the association for their unity and tenacity of purpose in their endeavours, and urged them to continue with their good works.

Mrs Bawumia advised the group not to indulge themselves in acts of violence, especially during this year's elections.

She was accompanied by a leading member of the NPP, Alhaji M. N. D. Jawula, and the party's parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, Alhaji Salifu Baba.

Alhaji Jawula said after President Kufuor had sent Ghana to the World Cup tournament, it was the desire of Nana Akufo-Addo to bring the World Cup to Ghana when voted into power.

He told the group that an NPP government under Nana Akufo-Addo would empower them financially and logistically to enable the group to become bigger.

The National Chairman of NSG, Mr Edmund Kwabena Ackah, thanked Mrs Bawumia for the gesture.
