Asare has impressed in Belgium Belgian giants Racing Genk have expressed interest in signing Ghanaian defender Nana Asare when the transfer window opens in January.

According to media reports in the European country, Genk official Jos Vaessen has approached Mechelen to sign the former U-23 international.

It is the second time Genk are seeking Asare after they were turned down in the summer for the signature of the youngster.

The 22-year-old joined Mechelen from Dutch side Feyenoord after failing to grab a first team place since joining the side from its satellite outfit Fetteh Feyenoord in Ghana.

He has been impressive since joining Mechelen but the club has struggled finishing 13 th in the league last season.

Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest also expressed interest in signing Asare before the close of the transfer window in August but the offer came in too late to be considered by the Belgians.

Genk are currently one of the four most successful clubs in Belgium as they often qualifies for European competitions.
