BEKOE'S FORM MAKES HIM FAVOURITE Asante Kotoko's prolific striker has been short-listed for the 2007/2008 Best Player Award by the Professional League Board and the Ghana Football Association.

 

Bekoe's 17 league goals last term makes him much-fanied to win the VW Salon car but face stiff opposition from team mate Harrison Afful and former Heart of Lions forward Dominic Adiyah.

Adiyah who now plays for Fredrikstad FK in the Norwegien League, scored 13 goals last season.

The general public hold 40 percent share in determining the winner on 24 October at the 3rd GFA/PLB Awards Night at the Trade Fair Round Pavillion in Accra.

The Premier League coaches also hold 40 percent and the remaining 20 percent to be decided by the Football Association.

Afful has been lined-up for a double after being nominated for the Best Defender Award together with team mate Samuel Inkoom and John Boye, now with French Ligue 1 side, Rennes.

Kotoko's Burkinabe goalkeeper,Soulama Abdoulaye, has been nominated for the Best Goalkeeper Award and will have to wrestle  with Luggard Tetteh(Zaytuna) and AshantiGold's Fatau Dauda.

Liberty Professionals' wonder-kid, Latif Salif, Hearts of Oak's duo Tawrick Jibril and Kofi Abanga were sieved from the lot for the Discovery of the Year Award.

Francis Oti AKenten(Heart of Lions), Fadi Omari(Zaytuna) and Kotoko coach Bashiru Hayford have been chosen for the Best Coach Award.
