Spades lift Accra Polo Captain’s Cup


The Spades led by Kwakye Depoah-Dei, captain of the Accra Polo Club defeated Hearts five and-a-half goals to five to win this year's Accra Polo Club Captain's Cup Championship played at the Accra Polo Grounds on Saturday.

Spades, who were given a half goal due to their weak handicap, opened the scoring through Sani Iddrisu in the very first minute of the First Chukka.

Hearts rallied and got the equalizer through Jibril Ibrahim two minutes inside the second Chukka.

Kwakye Depoah-Dei and Ricky Ibrahim grab two goals each for Spades while Azam Abed and George Agyeman also scored two goals each for Hearts.

In a curtain-raiser, Bukom defeated Nima 7-0

Depoah-Dei called on parents to encourage their wards to take the game of polo which he said was almost dying due to inaction.

Mr Frank Adu, Managing Director of CAL Bank presented trophies to the winners.
