Redemption time!…As Kotoko host Etoile in a cliff hanger tomorrow

By Kofi Owusu Aduonum - Ghanaian Chronicle

Ghana's continental lone ranger, Asante Kotoko, need nothing but an emphatic win to save their campaign, when they host their North African opponents, Etoile du Sahel at the Baba Yara Stadium, tomorrow.

Certainly, the game offers the Ghanaians a fine chance to atone for the loss they suffered to other North African opponents barely a week ago, against JSK.

The Algeria loss, coupled with the first leg defeat in Tunis, as well as the painful 0-1 loss to Heart of Lions in their Glo Top 4 last group game, seems to have thrown the entire Red Army camp into a revengeful state, for a win to placate their fans.

Lying fourth on the Group B standings with six points, just as their other opponents, Kotoko needs all the points at stake to keep their title dream on course.

As usual, al eyes will be on current competition's top scorer, Eric Bekoe, to carry the team on his shoulders for yet another victory before home fans.

But his effort will hugely depend on charges like skipper Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor to breath optimism into colleagues, as young Samuel Inkoom, Ofosu Appiah, Francis Akwarfo, Nii Adjei, burly striker Kwabena Yaro, Stephen Oduro, goalkeeper Sulama Abdulai, among others to ensure victory.

The Baba Yara Stadium has proved fertile for Kotoko since the beginning of this year's campaign, having gone past clubs like JSK, current group leaders, El-Merreikh, Dolphin FC, Al-Ittihad, Wikki Tourists among others, and Etoile appear to the next casualty.

A win will certainly atone for their recent losses and win back their fans lost confidence.
